Prayagraj: In connection with the bombs thrown at schools, the city police detained 35 minor students. The 35 accused are all from respectable households and attend prestigious Prayagraj institutions.
Three homemade bombs were thrown outside the gate of Boys High school a week earlier, prompting a police investigation into the incident. The investigation led the authorities to one student who revealed the involvement of other students. Through the use of CCTV footage, the student was located.
According to a police investigation, two rival student groups from local schools created Instagram accounts called “Jaguar” and “Tandav” and posted videos of such primitive bombs to frighten others.
All the minor students were detained by police and placed in juvenile detention facilities.
Another stunning finding from the police investigation was that the students had learned to make bombs on YouTube. One of the defendants is an adult who has been jailed.
The accused apparently recorded films of themselves throwing bombs and posted them online, spreading fear. Police claim to have told the accused’s parents about their actions.
On July 22, just as classes were about to end, three rudimentary bombs were thrown towards the Boys High School entrance in Prayagraj’s Civil Lines neighbourhood.
The entire series of events was captured on video by the location’s CCTV camera. Later, the police launched an investigation into the incident to find the accused.
Fortunately, because classes were in session, no students were near the gate when the device went off.
