Police rescued the child
Police said that a case has been registered against the accused parents under the Child Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act-2000. An 11-year-old child has been forced to live with 20 to 22 dogs inside a flat in Pune’s Kondhwa area, a volunteer of an NGO Childline told the police. The complainant told that when he went to that flat on May 5, he saw a child sitting at the window with the dogs. There was a foul smell coming from inside the house.
Police complaint filed with the help of NGO
When the complainant talked to the parents of the child, it came to know that the child does not go to school. After this, the complainant asked the parents to get admission in the school, advising them not to keep the children with dogs. But the family members of the child did not pay heed to them. After this he informed the police about this matter.
The child got admitted in the shelter home
The police officer said that when the police reached the spot on May 9, the parents of the child had gone out. The police found the child inside the house. “The boy was rescued the same day with the help of the Child Welfare Committee and a police complaint was lodged,” the officer said. The officer said the mannerisms of the boy resembled that of dogs. He has been admitted to the children’s shelter home. Further investigation is on.
