Cyclone Asani: The cyclonic storm ‘Asani’ is about to wreak havoc, for this the meteorological departments and disaster management teams of many states are working actively. Expressing the possibility, the Meteorological Department has said that after reaching close to the coast, the storm may again turn in the north-northeast direction.
The storm is moving towards the east coast and due to this, strong winds are blowing at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour in the affected areas and it is also seen to rain. The storm was 550 km south-east of Visakhapatnam on Monday, 680 km south of Puri. It is moving in north-west direction with wind speed of 100 to 110 kmph. Due to the cyclone, there is a possibility of rain in the adjoining coastal areas including Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. In such a situation, the Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go to this area for at least the next two days.

The Odisha government has planned to move people from four coastal districts to safer places. Remote warning signs have been displayed at all ports of Odisha. The Meteorological Department estimates that the cyclone will neither knock in Odisha, nor Andhra Pradesh. It will run parallel to the east coast and will cause rain.
