New Delhi: The capital once again recorded more than a thousand new cases of Covid-19 infection on Thursday, the second day in succession. The data shared by the health department showed that on Thursday, there were 1,128 fresh Covid cases in Delhi at a positivity rate of 6.6%. The number of tests conducted was 17,188. However, no deaths were registered in the last 24 hours This is for the sixth consecutive day that the positivity rate has been above 5%. With the fresh infections, the tally in Delhi rose to a total of 19.51,930, with the loss of 26,307 lives.
There currently are 3,526 active cases, up from 3.239 the previous day As many as 2.206 infected individuals are in home isolation. On Wednesday Delhi had logged 1066 new cases, the highest in nearly a month, with a positivity rate of 6.9% and two fatalities. A day earlier, there were 781 new cases and two deaths while the positivity rate stood at 6.4%. With 463 cases and two fatalities no Monday, the city recorded its highest positivity rate in over a month at 8.26.infections aren’t being revealed every day. “Had there been more Covid tests carried out. there would certainly be more new infection cases. These days, if one member of a family gets infected, the others are asymptomatic and do not get them selves tested.” said Dr Lalit Kant, former scientist and head of epidemiology and communicable diseases at ICMR “It is logical that these people too have got the virus but they are not being counted because they don’t under go tests. Another factor is the people opting for home testing and for rapid antigen tests.
