Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai condoled the death of Naveen Shekharappa, an Indian student killed in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on Tuesday morning. Let us tell you that Naveen is the first Indian to be killed in the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. He was a resident of Haveri in Karnataka.
The Chief Minister called Naveen’s father Shekhar Gowda and consoled him. Terming it as a real tragedy, the Chief Minister assured the family to bring back Naveen’s body to India. He said that the state government was talking to the Ministry of External Affairs on the matter.
Recalling his son’s last phone call on Tuesday morning, an emotional Shekhar Gowda said that Naveen used to call him at least two or three times a day. Naveen was studying in Ukraine for the last 4 years. According to family sources, the incident happened when he had gone out to have breakfast.
