Assam Flood latest Update: Around 25,000 people from six districts of Assam have been affected by the first wave of floods in the state this year. Three people, including a woman, were killed in landslides in Haflong area of Dima Hasao district on Saturday.
Kopili river flowing above danger mark
After incessant rains over the past few days in Assam and neighboring states (Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh), the water level of several rivers is rising gradually and the water of Kopili river is flowing above the danger mark.
Six districts badly affected by floods
According to the flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), a total of 24,681 people were affected in 94 villages of six districts- Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagaon and Kamrup (Metro) till May 14 in the first phase of floods. Huh.
2,150 people rescued
In the flood-affected districts, 1732.72 hectares of crop land has also been submerged. More than 21,000 people have been affected in Cachar district alone. Army, paramilitary forces, SDRF, fire and emergency services on Saturday rescued 2,150 people from flood-hit areas of Cachar district. Several roads, bridges and irrigation canals were damaged in Hojai, Lakhimpur, Nagaon districts.
