With monkeypox cases being reported in several countries, the Union Health Ministry has advised all states to instruct hospitals to monitor symptomatic patients who have recently traveled to countries infected with monkeypox.
Such patients have been asked to keep in separate health centers. According to sources, so far only one person has been kept in isolation for having symptoms of monkeypox infection who had traveled to Canada. The infection was not confirmed in the examination of the said passenger’s sample at the National Institute of Virology, Pune. The airport at which the passenger had reached has not been disclosed. Cases of monkeypox have been reported from Britain, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Canada, and the US. The Ministry of Health will soon issue guidelines regarding monkeypox.
