Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi will appear at the Enforcement Directorate office on Thursday for questioning. ED will question Sonia Gandhi in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the National Herald case. In this case, the ED has registered a case under PMLA against many other Congress leaders associated with the company including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. In this case, Rahul Gandhi has already been questioned for several days and on Thursday, questions related to this case will also be asked from Sonia Gandhi.
On this occasion, the Congress has planned to gherao the ED office across the country, driveway at many places and march to the ED office. Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and top party leaders will gather at the Congress office and march towards the ED office. Leaders of Mahila Congress including Youth Congress and NSUI will also protest in Delhi. Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi can accompany Sonia Gandhi to drop her till the ED office. On the other hand, Congress MPs under the leadership of Rahul want to march from Parliament House via bus or on foot. This is yet to be decided.
Before Sonia Gandhi’s appearance, Congress leaders reached the residence of senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge to hold a meeting. On this occasion, Pawan Khera said that disgusting politics is entering the country. Such political abuse of agencies against rivals has never been seen before. The party will protest across the country and register a protest. According to sources, the Congress has called a meeting of senior leaders on Thursday morning in view of the appearance of Sonia Gandhi, in which the further strategy will be decided.
Security beefed up near ED office
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and many other senior party leaders and MPs are present in Delhi. Sources say that many office-bearers and workers of Indian Youth Congress and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) are also reaching Delhi. In view of the questioning of Sonia Gandhi, the Delhi Police has beefed up security near the Congress headquarters and the ED office. A blockade was put up at 24 Akbar Road.
