Sudhir Chaudhary, editor and CEO of Zee News, has resigned from the company. Apparently, Chaudhary resigned as Cluster 1 CEO at Zee Media Corporation to start his own company.
Sudhir Chaudhary is a veteran of Indian television journalism who is leaving after a decade at Zee. However, this is his second time working with the company. He joined Zee News in its early years, but left in 2003 to join Sahara Samay. He has also been in Indian television for a while. In 2012, he returned to Zee News where he hosts his daily News & Analysis (DNA) show, one of the highest rated shows on Hindi news channels.
In a statement, Zee Media said, “It is the official announcement that Sudhir Chaudhury, CEO of Cluster 1, has resigned his services at Zee Media Corporation Limited immediately. Since Sudhir wanted to start his own business, Zee Media accepted it with a heavy heart.
Subhash Chandra, president of Essel Group and a mentor at Zee Media, said in an internal email that he had met with Sudhir Chaudhary twice in the previous two days to try to convince him to stay. Subhash Chandra said in the email, “As he plans to start his own business using his fans, I don’t want to hinder his progress.” Chandra also plans to hold a farewell dinner for Sudhir Chaudhary on July 8 at the Constitution Club. Sudhir Chaudhary said in his resignation letter to Chandra that he had been considering starting his own business for some time. In his resignation email, Sudhir Chaudhary wrote: “To start my own business. I assure you that the new project proposed by me (if successful) will make you happy and proud of me. My success will be a testament to my apprenticeship over 15 years (Two paragraphs) at Zee. He wrote in his resignation letter: “With a heavy heart I must say, ‘Great is the art of the beginning, but greater is the art of the end. “But sir, at the same time I would like to add that I seek your blessing to separate you from ZMCL.
The resignation has been the subject of speculation for several days, as Chaudhary has not held his DNA show for three days. The performance was hosted by presenter Zee Hindustan Rohit Ranjan. According to reports, Zee News is building a new group of presenters from different clusters as part of its new editorial strategy. With Chaudhary’s departure, the WION Editor will report directly to the publisher, while the Zee News, Zee Business and Zee 24 Taas editors will report to the President – Group Strategy & Innovation. Meanwhile, Zee Media has begun the process of appointing Abhay Ojha, Chief Commercial Officer, to take over from Sudhir Chaudhary.
