Qutub Minar Masjid News: A petition seeking worship in the Quwwatul Islam Masjid of the Qutub Minar complex in the national capital Delhi will be heard on Tuesday. It has been claimed in the petition that there are 27 temples of Hindu and Jain religion in the mosque premises. The court had sent a notice to the Central Government and the Department of Archeology before this hearing to be held on Tuesday in Delhi’s Saket Court. In this case, one side argues that the mosque built inside the Qutub Minar has been built after destroying 27 temples of Hindu and Jain religion, in such a situation, permission should be given to worship by installing idols there again.
Earlier on May 10, Hinduist organizations had demonstrated in front of Qutub Minar and demanded worship. Bhagwan Goel, International Working President of United Hindu Front claimed that Qutub Minar is a ‘Vishnu Stambh’ which was built by the ‘Great King Vikramaditya’.
The tower is 73 meters high
He had said, ‘Qutub-ud-din Aibak tried to take credit for it. There were 27 temples in the complex and they were destroyed by Aibak. Evidence of all this is available because people can see the idols of Hindu deities kept in the Qutub Minar complex. We demand that Qutub Minar should be named Vishnu Stambha.
Last month, Delhi’s Saket court heard a petition seeking removal of two Ganesh idols from Qutub Minar. The court had said – the concern of the appellant cannot be ignored. The court asked the defendants to maintain status quo in the matter till the next hearing.
According to the Delhi Tourism Department, Qutub Minar is a 73-meter-high Tower of Victory, which was built by Qutb-ud-din Aibak in the year 1193, soon after the defeat of the last Hindu kingdom of Delhi.
