Amidst the fuel crisis in Sri Lanka, former cricketer Roshan Mahanama was seen serving tea and buns to people waiting in lines outside shops to buy fuel and cooking gas. Since independence in 1948, the situation in Sri Lanka today is such that people are facing severe shortage of food, medicine and fuel.

Former Sri Lankan cricketer Roshan Mahanama himself tweeted, “We served tea and buns along with community meals to people in petrol queues around Ward Place and Wijerama Mawatha. The queues are getting longer day by day and there will be many health risks for the people living in the queues. The former Sri Lankan cricketer urged people to take care of each other and advised them to bring enough fluids and food while waiting in line for hours.

Electricity crisis deepens in Sri Lanka
On the other hand, the Sri Lankan government on Saturday announced the closure of all schools and institutions for the coming week due to prolonged power cuts. Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education advised students to organize online classes to avoid unnecessary commute and save fuel. The Sri Lanka Economic Crisis has particularly affected food security, agriculture, livelihoods and access to health services. Food production in the last crop season was 40-50 per cent lower than that of the previous year. At present, there is a severe shortage of seeds, fertilizers, fuel and credit.
