UK Biggest Rail Strike: The normal life of the country was disturbed due to the strike started by the railway employees in Britain. In this strike, the biggest of the last 30 years, out of 20 thousand trains, only 4500 are running. The demand of the employees is to increase the salary and allowances and ensure job security. But talks with railway companies on these demands have not been successful so far. Due to which the employees have warned to intensify their strike.
Queues of trains seen at London station
Trains were seen queuing at stations in central London on Tuesday morning but there were no drivers and other staff running them. Due to the strike of railway employees, people also came out of their homes less, due to which the streets of the city appeared more empty than usual. The employees have announced that they will go on a complete strike on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday this week (UK Biggest Rail Strike). 40,000 scavengers, signallers, maintenance workers and station employees working in the railways will participate in this strike.
Rail network stalled in Britain
Due to this strike of rail workers (UK Biggest Rail Strike), the rail network has been closed in most parts of Britain. London Underground Metro services have also been affected by the strike. Britain’s Transport Secretary Secretary Grant Shapps said the strike could cause massive problems. In such a situation, only 20% of the services will be able to operate.
‘Employees unions are responsible’
Grant Shapps blamed the employee unions for this strike (UK Biggest Rail Strike). He said that after the corona epidemic, the number of passengers in trains has not reached the earlier level. Due to this, the train companies are incurring huge losses. To overcome this deficit, they are demanding financial help from the government and cutting costs and staff. But instead of understanding the compulsion of those companies, the employee unions have started the strike.
‘Government is not taking any step’
At the same time, Lynch, president of the Railway Employees Union, said that the government does the work of making rules and conditions for the railway companies. In such a situation, he should come forward to solve the crisis and taking care of the jobs of the employees, a proper solution should be found. He accused PM Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party of deliberately not taking any proper steps to defame the Labor Party and employee unions and watching the spectacle by staying away.
Negotiations failed on both sides
The employees union said that inflation is increasing in the country. This inflation rate is expected to increase in the same way, while the salary of the employees is going on as the old one. Talks were held on Monday between the employees union and rail companies on the issue of ending the strike (UK Biggest Rail Strike), which failed. Since then no meeting has taken place between the two sides. Due to this, people had to face difficulties in commuting in Wales, Lincoln, Scotland and Cornwall areas.
